On Monday through Friday, after the House and Senate adjourn from morning floor proceedings, members attend committee hearings on bills. You will find links to the House and Senate committee schedules below. Committees hear public testimony on and debate the merits of the bill. After hearing public testimony committees may make amendments to the bill, refer a bill to another committee, favorably refer the bill to the House or Senate, lay a bill over to be heard another time, or postpone the bill indefinitely. A bill that is postponed indefinitely is considered dead. All other committee actions will be considered by the House and Senate members acting as what is termed the Committee of the Whole. Audio streaming of committees is available from the General Assembly’s home page. Committee hearings ARE NOT available on video.
