After the House adjourns from its morning floor proceedings on Monday through Friday, members attend committee hearings on bills.  The Speaker of the House refers bills to these committees when a bill is introduced in the House. The schedule for these committees is listed on this page below.  Committees hear public testimony on and debate the merits of the bill.   After hearing public testimony committees may make amendments to the bill, refer a bill to another committee, favorably refer the bill to the House, lay a bill over to be heard another time, or postpone the bill indefinitely.  A bill that is postponed indefinitely is considered dead, but all other committee actions will be considered by the House acting as what is termed the Committee of the Whole.  By clicking on the room number in the table below you will be able to access the audio stream of that committee hearing if it is meeting.  Committee hearings ARE NOT available on video.
