Authority Board

Board Members Board Meetings

HB 09-1307 created the Colorado Channel Authority Board as a political subdivision of the state. The authority is not an agency of state government, nor is it subject to administrative direction by any department, commission, board, bureau, or agency of the state. The powers of the authority are vested in a board of directors.  SB11-231 updated the language around the Colorado Channel Authority Board's composition, and that is included below.

The board consists of 9 members as follows:

  • 3 members appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Senate; at least one of whom is a registered, unaffiliated voter in the state, and at least one of whom has experience in the business operations of broadcast journalism;
  • 1 member appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court;
  • 1 member appointed by the Speaker of the House, who must be currently serving in the House of Representatives;
  • 1 member appointed by the House Minority Leader, who must be currently serving in the House of Representatives;
  • 1 member appointed by the President of the Senate, who must be currently serving in the Senate;
  • 1 member appointed by the Senate Minority Leader, who must be currently serving in the Senate; and
  • 1 member jointly appointed by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House who has experience in the operation of a business and/or fundraising for a nonprofit organization.
